Our roots in Madagascar
Our story begins in Madagascar, an island renowned for its rich biodiversity, diverse landscapes, and exceptional agricultural products. Among these, Bourbon vanilla holds a special place. It represents a heritage, a traditional skill, and an essential activity for many Malagasy families. In the SAVA region, in the northeast of the island, vanilla cultivation shapes village life and patiently follows the seasons. Its name encompasses Sambava, Antalaha, Vohémar, and Andapa, four territories closely linked to the history of Malagasy vanilla. The tropical climate, abundant rainfall, rich soil, and meticulous work of the farmers provide particularly favorable conditions for its growth.
It is in close proximity to this terroir that Vanilla MG has chosen to build its business. Being present in Madagascar allows us to better understand the origin of each product, to communicate directly with local stakeholders, and to follow the various stages of preparation. This proximity forms the foundation of our identity and our way of working. We maintain direct relationships with producers, collectors, and processors who share our respect for the product and our constant pursuit of quality. Behind each pod lie months of work, a precise knowledge of the plant, and techniques passed down from generation to generation. Our role is to preserve this value, to present it transparently, and to make it accessible to professionals worldwide.
Patient and demanding know-how
Vanilla is the result of long, delicate and meticulous work. Liana requires regular attention even before the first flowers appear. When they open, they must be pollinated manually, one by one, within a very short time. This precise gesture requires experience and is one of the most important stages of production. After pollination, the pods develop slowly for several months. Producers monitor their development
Once harvested, the green pods begin a lengthy preparation process. They undergo successive stages of scalding, steaming, transpiration, sun-drying, and then shade-drying before being placed in the curing area. These steps are adapted according to the condition of the pods, the climatic conditions, and the desired result. Nothing is rushed. Over the weeks and months, the pods develop their brown color, supple texture, and characteristic aromatic bouquet. Warm, floral, woody, and slightly cocoa notes may then emerge. Each batch, however, possesses its own unique character, influenced by its origin, ripeness, and preparation. Before export, we carry out a careful selection process. The pods are examined, sorted, and classified according to several criteria: variety, length, suppleness, moisture content, overall appearance, integrity, and intended use. They are then grouped and vacuum-packed or packaged according to the client's specific requirements. This work makes it possible to offer a quality suitable for pastry making, catering, resale, processing or the manufacture of extracts.
to create a link with our customers
Vanilla MG supports professionals seeking authentic, consistent, and traceable Malagasy products. Our clients include artisans, pastry chefs, chocolatiers, restaurateurs, delicatessens, distributors, brands, and processors located in various countries. Each client has specific expectations, and we believe that a successful collaboration always begins with listening to and understanding the project. Therefore, we take the time to study the intended use, the quantity required, the size, moisture content, packaging, and the constraints of the target market. Vanilla intended for retail sale is not selected in the same way as vanilla intended for extraction or processing. Our product expertise allows us to guide each client toward the category that best suits their business, their expected quality level, and their budget.
Our mission doesn't end with the sale. We prepare each order with care, from product selection to final packaging. Depending on your needs, we can work with various formats, from vacuum-sealed bags and retail packaging to custom preparations for professionals. Photos and batch information can also be provided before shipment. Exporting also requires meticulous attention to detail. We include all necessary documentation with your order, depending on the product and destination, and then arrange for its shipment via express or freight transport. From the moment the package leaves our premises, you receive all the information you need to track your shipment. We remain available until delivery to answer questions and facilitate communication when necessary. We believe that trust is built on clear information, realistic commitments, and regular communication. That's why we prioritize a direct and transparent relationship, whether for an initial sample order or for ongoing professional supply. Our ambition is to build lasting collaborations rather than simply making one-off sales.
